If you are looking forward to spending a memorable day in Brooklyn, you simply cannot and should not miss out on taking a self-guided stroll through Prospect Park. Frederick Law Olmsted, after Central Park, took up the cudgels and designed the mesmerizing Prospect Park, which is spread over 90 acres while hosting running trails (3.35 miles), racecourse/horseback riding, open fields (for soccer and baseball), and several playgrounds.
During summer, the Prospect Park Bandshell hosts classy summer concerts, whereas in winter, you can have fun at the LeFrak Center ice-skating rink. For some extra thrill, take a ride at the magnificent Prospect Park Carousel (1912).
Soak in some culture at the Brooklyn Museum
As the second-largest museum in New York, the Brooklyn Museum ranks as enough reason to visit as it is the host to one of the most mesmerizing collections of ancient Egyptian art. Head to the Green-Wood Cemetery
Afraid? Don’t be! You do need to visit the Green-Wood cemetery. The cemetery is spread over 478 acres and is located between Sunset and Prospect Parks. Constructed in the early 1900s, the Green-Wood Cemetery is the eternal home to several legends, including Leonard Bernstein, William Boss Tweed, and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
You can tour the cemetery and explore more about its history while taking in the beauty of its valleys, hills, green paths, and glacial ponds. The Green-Wood Historic Funds also host many walking tours, book lectures, concerts, and exhibitions.
Shop on Atlantic Avenue

Extra tips for visiting Brooklyn, NY
– You will find that the prices of food in Brooklyin are much more reasonable than those in Mannhatan. Maybe it’s a little bit less fancy, but pizzas, Chinese food and stuff like that is all incredibly tasty.
– If you’re here during Christmas time, head to Dyker Heights – the lights on display there are quite amazing!
– You like walking? Head across the Brooklyn Bridge for some fantastic views!
– When on a subway, you will want to stay clear of empty subway cars. They are probably empty because of the smell, which can be quite unpleasant, to say the least.
– If in a crowded street, act like you would do on a highway. So, try not to cause a jam, don’t turn abruptly, etc.
